OK, class is now in session! This week's lesson is hairstyling II. Last Week we discussed the basic techniques of hairstyling. This week we will focus on the Artistry of Hairstyling. We will discuss face shapes and hairstyles that best compliment them!Round Facial Type - Contour: Round hairline and round chin. Aim: To create the illusion of length to the face. To minimize the roundness of this face, hair should be worn with a parted bang to the side, with hair dressed over the ears and toward the cheeks.
Square Facial Type - Contour: Straight hairline and square jaw line. Aim: To create the illusion length and offset the squareness of the features. To create the illusion of narrowness again, hair should be styled similar to hair of round face type.
Pear-Shaped Facial Type - Contour: Narrow forehead, wide jaw line and chinline. Aim: To create the illusion of width in the forehead. Wear hair full and high. Partially cover forehead with a fringe of waved hair. Hair should be worn close to the jawline to give the appearance of width to forehead. Of course if hair is too short or this style, wear the hair full leaving a tease of your forehead exposed.
Oblong Facial Type - Contour: Long, narrow face with hollow cheeks. Aim: To make the face appear shorter and wider. The hair should be styled fairly close to the tope of the head with a fringe of curls or bangs, combined with fullness at the sides. The length of the face will appear to be reduced.Diamond Facial Type - Contour: Narrow forehead, extreme width though the cheekbone, and narrow chin. Aim: To reduce the width across the cheekbone line. Wearing hair full around the forehead and close on the sides will create the illusion of the perfect oval face.
Heart-Shaped Facial Type - Contour: Wide forehead and narrow chinline. Aim: To decrease the width of the forehead and increase the width in the lower part of the face. To reduce forehead Wearing hair parted in the middle and towards the cheeks works best for this facial type. .
