Hair Treatments

Last week's lesson was on Conditioning, as you remember we discussed the importance of selecting the correct conditioner for your hair type and also the importance of different kinds of conditioners. Well this week get ready for your crash course in hair treaments for damaged hair.

Identifying damaged hair
If your hair is chemically processed, brittle and dry, breaks when you comb it, has no elasticity, feels spongy and matted when wet, gets moist easily when washed, has a rough texture and is over-porous, YOU'VE GOT DAMAGED HAIR!

Any of the above conditions will cause problems when styling hair. If your hair has reached the point of the above mentioned, conditioning alone is not enough. You need help!

Hair Treatments

Hair treatments are additional actions that we take to ensure that our hair is properly maintained. There are many bottled treatments out there - so I will make it simple for you. Protein and Cholesterol.

Protein Treatments such as at-home remedies can consist of one egg and mayonaise left on the hair for about 1 hour under a plastic cap or Mendex, a constructing treatment used by beauty schools for years. Mendex can be found at most beauty supply stores. Another option is a "Hot Protein Pak" also found in all beauty stores.

Cholesterol Treatments can be found in all beauty supply stores. It is a creamy substance usually in a jar and it reads "Cholesterol" so you can't miss it.
