By far this is one of the most popular family spots on the island. Each day
thousands of local go to Ala Moana Beach Park for a day at the beach and for
picnics. If you're driving you'll want to go early for good parking. 
Like most other family styled beach parks on O'ahu, families and others gather regularly for activities such as picnics, BBQing, games, swimming and other recreational activities. For a nice day of R&R, it is hard to beat spending a day down at the beach park.
If you're driving out of Waikiki to Ala Moana Beach Park you can head down 'Ewa bound on Kuhio until it merges with Kalakaua. Stay here until it eventually merges with Ala Moana Blvd. You'll see Ala Moana Shopping Center on your right. The beach park is directly across the shopping center on your left hand side.
If you're taking the bus, you can catch the #19, 20 and 47 from Kuhio Avenue and get off at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Cross the street and you'll be at the Beach Park.
