World famous Ala Moana Shopping Center, Hawai'i's premiere mall, is just 5 minutes westbound from Waikiki. With over 200 shops and restaurants, with more on the way, Ala Moana has no shortage of sites and sounds.
Among Ala Moana's shops are department stores such as Sears, Liberty House, JC Penny's, the brand new Neiman Marcus and Shirokiya, a favorite among local favorites, particularly of Oriental descent. A majority of Ala Moana's shops are geared more toward tourists than local crowds.
Normally there is regular entertainment at Ala Moana's reknowned Center Stage. Usually Centerstage has regular performances by local bands, hula halaus and also martial arts demonstrations and other cultural performances. Local pageants and other competitions also often occur at Center Stage. One particular regular event at Center Stage is the monthly tapings of the popular Hawai'i Stars Karaoke competition which is broadcast on local television. While at Ala Moana there is always something exciting happening at Center Stage. | |
