The Nu'uanu Pali is as historic as it is a popular tourist spot. In Hawaiian history the Pali was the site for the definitive battle for O'ahu as Kamehameha and his warriors battled the chief of O'ahu for control of the island. Thousands of Hawaiian warriors fell to their deaths from the Pali Lookout as Kamehameha and his warriors defeated the O'ahu forces for control of the island. |

In modern times this historical site has become a popular tourist spot. The Lookout is closed off to the public in the evenings but is open during the day. From the Lookout visitors catch a good glimpse of Kane'ohe Bay and the town of Kane'ohe below. |
You can only get up to the Pali by car (unless if you decide to walk there). To get there from Waikiki you need to get onto the H-1 West bound. Stay in your right hand lane till you see the "Pali Highway" cut off. Take the cut off and remain in your right hand lane. The Pali Lookout cut off will be on your right hand side.
