Golf or Flog as it should be known for us hackers
The less impecunious Chinese (includes the "middle classes") are unable to afford to play golf as the cost (for them) is just too high and they have better things on which to spend their income. The courses on Hainan are underused and an average of 50 golfers on a weekend is the norm for the 4 courses around Haikou. Weekdays some courses are lucky to break into double figures. All the courses are very long off the white tees averaging over 6,500 yards which makes for some horrendous scores, especially Eric! There are no yellow tees for men and it just wouldn't do to play off the ladies which average 5,900yds. Just one reason why Eric has yet to break 100 and the fact that he takes after Jean Van de Velde and just manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory (breaking 100 that is). He'll get there befores he leaves China.
