Yang Shuo
A pleasant though damp few days were spent in Yang Shuo which is a more laid back than Guilin City which is typical of just about any city in China these says - noisy and crowded.
That's not to say Yang Shuo wasn't crowded with tourists and the ubiquitous Lonely Planet type backpackers, and the many souvenir arts and crafts stalls but it was great to have one street in China that has been pedestrianised. Even cyclists had to dismount otherwise face a fine of Rmb30.
We enjoyed 2 escorted tours with Esther a very persistent saleswoman and we were joined on our second trip down river by the Dicker family - Richard, Sharon, Kelly, Rachel and Baby Cameron.
Scenery from Yang Shuo. Centre is Big Moon Hill and me with the 2 salespersons who made the climb in order to sell thirsty climbers bottled water.
Esther, our tour guide and her home. One of the windows and mirror to reflect the bad vibes.
Decorative ventilation and an interesting patterned stone wall.
