We flew from Lima to Cuzco
Cuzco is such a great place!! many travelers & very safe. I can't wait to return!!
While there we took a train to Agos Caliente. The train ride was very cheap, they have a more expensive one but we had so much fun on the coach. You enter the jungle after a while, with the Urubamba river on your left, more awesomeness!! We met some very friendly Israeli's on the train back to Cuzco. We also met a very friendly couple from Canada & many others from all over the world.
These places have the best pizza, baked in a hand made clay type oven, they use a wood fire, mama mia muy ricco!! All the typical food is delicious too. Fresh trout, veggies etc. !! Just try not to eat alot until you get used to the altitude.
We stayed in Agos Caliente for 2 nights. A very beautiful town as well, it's so awesome to wake up surrounded by the Andes. The hot spring there is great. You can stay very cheap in a hostel, just compare prices. (the same goes for Cuzco) From there you can hike, or bus to Macchu Picchu. We sort of hitch hiked, while enjoying our wait for the bus on a bridge over the river, taking pictures and admiring the scenery. We finally caught a ride at about 8 am with a big truck that was heading up, as they told us the bus doesn't come this way, oops.. lucky us. They were very friendly!! We tipped them for the lift.
This is one of my favorite pictures from our trip. We stayed all day exploring. (wear long pants and, or take mosquito repellant)
Macchu Picchu is so wonderful, and amazing. We hiked up the mountain in the background, wow what a climb it's called Huanyo Picchu. Incredible!! Claudia & I had the best time ever!!
All I can say is GO!!
