| The Rise to Power
The Rise to Power is the newest of my site's original RPG's, and RTP3 will be far different from the first two. In The Rise to Power you begin with three groups, or teams, of seven creatures. The groups are composed totally randomly. Seeing as there are three groups of seven creatures, this means there will be 21 players. Sign up begins on July 18th - Limit One Entry Per Person. Entry through form only unless a problem occurs. You must be a member of my forum with "Abbey Members" status to play.
The Goal - Be the last to survive.
The Gold, Weapons, and Equipment - You begin with 2,500 gold pieces. The only way to earn more gold is to be the first team to complete a quest, there is no gambling in Rise to Power. You can use those gold pieces to buy a up to TWO weapons (25 acorn spikes or 10 poison potions=1 weapon). You may not, however, lay traps, hire assassins, poisoners, or even hire mercenaries. You may not train in skills for RTP either. So this limits you to buying only weapons, equipment, and upgrades. All buying received before I write the battle will occur before the player's next battle.
The Message Board - Each group has their own message board in the forum. You may read other the boards, but only post at your own group's. Each camp also has a private board for other purposes. Voting for a leader and voting for who fights will take place in the public forum. The private forum is then reserved for your discussion in reference to the challenges and other effects of the game with your fellow camp members. Leaders must send in their camp's challenge answers via forum messenger
Electing A Leader - In this RPG you must elect a leader of your group, once you get seven members on your team, voting begins. Votes will be tallied once a sufficient margin of victory has been achieved or two days have passed since registration ended. Elections take place on the forum, there are no secrets in the voting.
Duties of the Leader - The leader of the group is the only one with the power to submit answers to the quests, or challenges. In addition to this, I will email the leader each time a new challenge is posted in the forum. The leader should alert his/her team to this. Also, a good leader will listen to his team mates and make a joint decision before messaging me the answer on the forum. Any personal contact or challenge answers must be sent via forum messaging. Besides holding two votes in determining who may die, which the leader may place both for one creature or on two separate creatures, the leader also has certain special privileges. The system resulting in RTP death as well, as leader privileges, will be expounded on later.
Overthrowing A Leader - If you feel that your leader is unfit to lead or you could do better you can overthrow your current leader. To overthrow your current leader, you must post a thread in your group's forum calling for "A Vote of No Confidence". Once a Vote of No Confidence has been issued by any team member your team may re-vote for a new leader. Only if the majority vote for the same opposing candidate can your leader be overthrown. The leader will remain in control until enough votes can elect a new leader.
Shared Leadership - If your team cannot elect one leader and there is a tie in the votes, you will have joint leadership. Joint leaders will have none of the privileges of normal leaders. You may not have more than two leaders at a time though. In the event of a three-way tie, the first two to receive all of their votes will be the two proclaimed leader. Either of the two joint leaders may send in the challenge answers, and only the first leader to do so shall have his or her answer reviewed. If at anytime one of the voters who had previously voted for either of the two leaders dies, that creature's vote is erased and the other leader is proclaimed sole leader.
Leader Privileges - New in RTP3 are several options only available to group leaders. Each privilege may only be used once per camp, no matter how many times leadership may change. Leader privileges should not be taken lightly. All other camp leaders are immune to the effects of another camp leader's privileges. The first, and most powerful, of these privileges is known as Abundance. At any time during the RTP a leader whose camp has at least two more members than another camp may choose to use his or her camp's Abundance privilege. To do so, the camp's leader must simply IM me, telling me that he or she wishes to use this privilege. When activating Abundance, a camp leader chooses one of his or her camp's members, this member and the leader are the only two members exempt from the effects entailed in this privilege. Once activated two of the remaining creatures are sent to the camp with the least number of members. Prior to the arrival of the new creatures one of that camp's old members must be sacrificed to make room. A vote is taken at the receiviing camp and in 24 hours one member must be selected, any ties in voting will result in the random selection of a member to be sacrificed. That member is then killed, making room for the two new members. The Abundance privilege thus allows a leader to kill members from another camp and perhaps rid himself or herself of a nuisance in camp, if lucky. Simply put: The camp gives up two almost random members in return they basically kill off one of the other camp's members. This is the most radical and the largest gamble of chance that a leader may take.
The second leader privilege is less dramatic. With Anarchy, the camp leader may void the votes of all other members and personally select the two camp members who will be fighting as a result of a loss challenge. The camp leader may claim anarchy at any time, simply by posting his or her choice in a new thread in the camp's public voting forum.
The final camp leader privilege is Erasure. The leader may declare erasure at any time during or after a fight-vote prior to Pawflash writing the actual fight. To use Erasure, one camp member must have more fight-votes than any other. Once Erasure is declared, the creature with the most votes is then slaughtered in camp without any fight.
Challenges - There will be a challenge every few days. Challenges can be used to get you more gold pieces and other rewards. Challenges can be anything from a quiz question to a quest. Some may be pre-existing activities on the site, so you can get abbey points while completing challenges for gold. Any camp that completes the challenge within 24 hours of its posting will receive a prize. The leader of the team is the only one who can submit the final group answer. Also, if your team fails to correctly complete a challenge or your team is the last to complete the challenge, your leader must send two off to battle. If you answer in correctly you must wait until the next day to send in another answer. Pawflash may place a cutoff date for the challenge to be complete. Any camps with the challenge incomplete at that time would be forced to fight. Check in often to see if there's a new challenge.
Killing - To get killed your group must be either fail or be the last to complete a challenge. Pawflash may also add in game twists that could lead to randomized deaths or deaths for other reasons. Once your camp must choose creatures to fight to the death a 24 hour vote is taken on the camp's public voting forum. The creatures with the most votes, perhaps surpassing two creatures depending on the way the votes lie, will have to fight to the death. This is where your weapons and equipment purchased with the 2500gp comes in handy. You will fight using this equipment and it, along with your creature advantages and some luck, will determine who lives or dies out of the fighters. Once one camp member dies, the rest shall return to camp.
Merging the Teams - Once a team is down to two players, the two will be split up and sent to the two remaining teams, getting rid of the third group entirely. The other occasion to cause a merger occurs when only five players remain. These will be the prize winners. They will have no leader, and challenges from then on will be everybeast for themself. The creature who wins the challenge chooses the two creatures who shall fight. Once the field of competitors is down to two, a final battle shall be written.
The Prizes - The winner will receive 250 points! - A huge sum of points. There are second, third, fourth, and fifth place prizes, 200,175, 150, and 125 points. There will also be 15 points given out for participation.
Pawflash's Rulings Are Final - once you're dead, you're out of the game. YOU ARE NOT OUT OF THE ABBEY
