Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a family, choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed intrest mortage repayments. Choose a started home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couce watching mond-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrasement to the selfish, fucked up brats you've spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life. (Trainspotting)
I don't actually know why I put this stuff on my site... this one is a miserable quote.. but somehow I like the irony about modern life in it. We constantly keep remaining ourselves we're so free, much freer to choose what we want to do than all the generations before us. It's the illusion of freedom, which keeps our society going. Just like that thing above demostrates - we can choose what we buy, where we life, our friends, our education... but the most important things in life - can we choose them, too??? Can I choose not to pollute at all??? All fucking items in shops are wrapped up in plastic... Can I choose to live completely without money??? Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying it's all bad you can't choose everything... I guess I'm just one of those frustrated generation X teens bored of this materialistic way of life... |
