When she was at the end of the forest, she got to a town. She saw a car for the first time. She was frightened of the car. When she got out of the town, she got to a beach. A little fish was swimming in the shallow water. Maija asked him: "Is it far to the edge of the world from here?". The fish replied: "Probably the edge of the world is where this sea ends. But no one can go that far". I can go there, Maija said.
When she arrived to the other side of the sea, she noticed that she hadn't arrived to the edge of the world yet. She got to an another forest and met a bear there and asked him: "Is it a long way to the edge of the world from here"? I don't know, said the bear. Maija continued her journey and she met an elk and asked him if it still was a long way to the edge of the world from there. "Maybe the edge of the world is where this forest ends, but no one can go that far". I can, Maija said. |
When Maija got to the other side of that forest, she still hadn't come to the edge of the world. Maija wondered. Then Maija saw a ladybug and asked her:" Is it far to the edge of the world from here"? "Probably the edge of the world is where this meadow ends. Have you been there? No one can go that far". I can , Maija said. When Maija had flown to the other side of the meadow she saw some other bees and asked them if it was far from there to the edge of the world. "We don't know, but a bee called Maija would know. She left there a long time ago". I am that Maija, Maija said. |
