Belize is the smallest country in Central America. It is also the only Cental American country to have English as it's main language instead of Spanish. It's population is 249,183. The total area is 23,300 square kilometers(9,087 sq. miles). Belize is 180 miles long and 70 miles wide. Just a little bit bigger than Massachusetts. The coastline is 386 km. These are percents of the religions of the people there: 60% Catholic, 30% Protestant, 10% Other. The languages are English, Creole, Spanish, Maya and Garifuna
   Belize has the second largest barrier reef in the world, or the largest in the western hemisphere. The reef is about 180 miles long. It has 200 islands and no idea how old. Belize has beautiful cayes, mangroves, lucious swamps, Pine Ridge, the rain forest and mountainous regions. It truly is a beautiful country.
Belize is divided into 6 districts: Belize, Cayo, Corozal, Orange Walk, Stann Creek and Toledo. Each district has its own personality and culture.
Belize became independant on September 21, 1981. The average temperature is 79 degrees ferinheit. The Maya were the first known inhabitants.
