PUNTA DEL ESTE 2000
I chose to spend the Millenial New Year in the same place that I have spent the last 10 years. And why not? There's no place in the world as special as Punta del Este in the summer; and no better way to spend New Years than with beloved family and friends.
I think the most amazing charm of Punta del Este lies in the Sunsets that mark the end of each day at the beach, and the sunrises that mark the end of the wonderful nightlife there. So, here, you'll get to experience a little bit of that with me...
On December 31st, the whole gang of friends decided to go to Solanas beach (un clasico!) to watch the last sunset of the 1900's.

Every year, the Peri's make sure there's a new boy to bring to the beach...Julian, Martin, Lucas, and Ignacio (?? I can't rememver the name of Dani's latest). Oh... and by the way... Carolina's pregnant in this picture... |
The Peris enjoying the last sunset with Phil and I. (Off-camera, Dani's son, Martin decided to take off all his clothes and watch the last sunset naked...) |
Enjoying Punta with my old college roomates Gna & Phil (Siblongo: where are you???) |
THE LAST SUNSET OF THE 1900's... SPECTACULAR!
And....After a great night of partying...and partner swapping...(Sandra sitting on Pablo's - not her husband's- lap)
We were treated to a full moon...
and then...
.
THE FIRST SUNRISE OF THE NEW MILLENIUM!!
Yes... That's right! In Punta, the sun rises & sets over the water! This picture is taken at Parada 12 of the Brava right after we left the disco where we celebrated the New Year. It was a wonderful way to start the year, and a wonderful trip overall.
The Gang (dressed again) enjoying the first sunrise of the Millenium!
