Around the world and then some...
From the ancient pyramids and bustling Arab markets in Egypt to the remote bamboo jungles of northern Thailand, from wandering through the biblical city of Old Jerusalem to drinking Guiness in an English Pub. What have my experiences traveling around the world left me?? A strong desire for more, more, MORE!
In the summer of 1998, a friend and I took 7 weeks and backpacked around the world. We visited China, Thailand, Egypt, Israel, Spain, France and England. A lot of our planning and research was done via the Internet through travel sites like lonelyplanet.com, newsgroups and personal sites like this one.
A great site to begin with is ticketplanet.com. They specialize in around-the-world fares and were able to get us a fantastic deal on airfare and our eurorail passes. We just got back from a trip through Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Papau New Guinea, Singapore, Maylasia, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong. We got our tickets through Ticket Planet this time too and we were again very happy with the fares, friendliness of the ticket agents, care they gave in finding the best deals and especially the time and patience taken in helping us hash out all the decisions that go into planning. They are truly the masters of world travel!
The country links below will take you to a sort of photo/journal of our trip with lots of pictures and travel tips as well as a few links to sites we used in planning. Bon voyage, buen viaje!!!
