Make me an offer!
I enjoy writing fictional prose. Don't hold it against me.
If the urge takes you, then go. This is the guide to everywhere I've been, which makes for a pretty comprehensive travel guide

Personal Skills
InnovationI have many interests in my life outside work, including creative writing, current affairs and travel. These areas are essential to my working life as they help me keep an open mind and to see problems from abstract angles.
Fast LearningMy work within a small company (Sinara) has frequently required the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies in short periods of time. My solid education base in a core range of technical and management techniques has supplied me with many skills, which I am able to apply to new situations.
FlexibilityI regularly work in challenging environments in both the developing and developed world. This variety requires a committed, yet easy-going and flexible attitude to work.

Employment History
April 2001 - Present Day
VSO is the world's largest independent volunteering agency. It promotes volunteering to fight global poverty and disadvantage.
My employment at VSO has been as a developer and technical consultant within our in-house development team.
With VSO I have worked from our base in London, and also from six offices overseas.

Web Services
For the past 18 months I have worked as technical lead on all of VSO's internet, intranet and extranet based services. These focus on securely managing the flow of information between VSO's staff and volunteers working worldwide. An essential part of this work has been an awareness of the issues of information access in developing countries.
I have lead the development of a corporate intranet which is now securely accessible to all of our employees worldwide.
I have also advised on the implementation of document and content management systems.

September 1996 – July 1998
July 1999-September 2000

Roles taken
Project Manager
Systems Design Consultant
Software Engineer

Sinara Consultants is a small software consultancy based in the City of London. It offers programming, design and consultancy services to clients from financial and e-commerce sectors.
For my first two years with the company I worked mainly in programming roles. Following that I took a one year break to travel and work abroad. From 1999-2000 I worked at Sinara managing project teams varying in size between 2 and 5 people.

Clients
S & P ComStock - I worked as a consultant on several projects involving the distribution of realtime financial information for Standard & Poors ComStock.
Cazenove & Co - I spent 9 months working with Cazenove on the design and implementation of an analysis tool used with managed funds.
Other - I also worked on projects for QXL, and other small companies. With all of these projects a high level of client-facing was required, as was the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technically minded people, often at board level.

December 1998 - March 1999

Full time work within the Facilities Management department of P&O Services in Sydney, Australia.
During my time with P&O I took a key role in a project to automate several of their day-to-day client management operations, using an Oracle database with a VB front-end. An important part of this project was liasing with end-users to establish project requirements.

Goad Plans1992 - 1993

Full time job as Computer Operator within GIS project at small cartography firm.
