I think that the new buses are gorgeous. And what about the uniforms on the nice men and women who drive them? They're a credit to the city and I for one am proud to travel on the buses. The longer the journey, the bigger the traffic jam, the more value I get. Think about it, if I am on a bus for one and a half hours trying to get from St. Stephens Green to O'Connell St and it costs me 60p it's less than a penny a minute!!! Where else would you get value for money like that? And what about the boundless wi of the other passengers? Oh, it's great. You can tell from my email address where I live. I work in town so it's no problem for me to walk. I didn't know the extent of the bus problem in Dublin until I saw this site. The trouble with DB is that all the stupid assholes who make the timetables pro ably haven't been on a bus since the sixties. They are a bunch of fucking morons who don't seem to take the passengers wishes or point of view into consideration. You should see the 53 route. A joke. In all EC capitals buses are sticking to time tables, reasonable fare adn confortable. Unfortunately this cannot be said about Dublin buses: they are always late, expensive and so poluting. Most of the drivers are unfriendly, have no considerations for cu tomers and don't seem to try to respect time tables. GET PRIVATE COMPANIES TO RUN DUBLIN'S PUBLIC TRANSPORTS. We will all get a better service, on time and cheaper. Along with the taxis, dublin buses are wasting Irish people valuable time and money for probably the worst service in Europe !

As we can see with Aircoach, JJ Kavanaghs and more, there are companies who can compete, actually be on time and offer comfort ble reliable service for a reasonable fare. Not to put too fine a point on it, but...

Dublin Bus drivers must have an IQ equal to their speed during rush hour. They are inefficient, rude, surly and perpetually late: have you ever seen those tour sts at bus stops glancing at the timetable, glancing at their watches and then looing up the road? The rest of us have simply gotten used to the fact that Dublin Bus's timetable is simply a list of dry jokes attached to each bus stop post. At least the th ng revloves: we get to play with something while we wait an hour.

Oh but the genius of the bus drivers! Knowing that their inefficiency has already made them desperately unpopular with the citizens of Dublin, and having been told tha there is no more money for them in existence, they choose to completely remove their services from their already aggrieved costomers and demand more money for refusing to be more efficient. When the inevitable privatization occurs and their monopo y ends, how many people do they think are going to be loyal to good old Dublin Bus? There is more than a touch of the Duh Factor about this.

Ow! You get the picture. Then they go off on strike and strand 200,000 people for several days. That does NOT gain support you stupid people. Moaning about pay. They start on a basic probation, but pay is increased once this is complete. Yes, it's often annoying dealing with ignorant individuals, but f om what I've seen, most people are actually quite friendly to bus drivers, even those drivers who themselves would make a pig in a uniform (no not a Garda, a real pig) look more respectful. I've just been onto the customer services dept. of dublin bus and I've been told that if you have a weekly / monthly ticket for the bus(incl. short hop tickets), you can demand a refund for the days that the drivers strike !!! Only hitch is that you have o go to the main office on o'connell st!! But feic that, time to get your money back!

They had an interview with one of the fuckers at the picket line on the 8am news. He had a go at he government's attitude towards them and finished his comments with the simple remark "We deserve 20%". WHY? I'm not getting a 20% pay rise this year, and I'm sure most other people aren't either. Obviously the drivers feel that they are a class apart from the rest of us. Yesterday, I left work at 4.30 to await the 4.35pm no. 5 bus, which normally passes by Lwr. Mount St. at 4.45. It did not arrive. After asking 2 bus drivers, I eventually learnt that they had cancelled the service because they did not have enough driver . I eventually got on an 84 bus at 5.10 and arrived home at 6.10 - 40 minutes later then normal after a 15 minute walk - and in foul humour. I am used to Dublin Bus being late etc. But as this bus service is so irregular (comes every 1hr 15 mins approx.) anyway - could they not have cancelled a more regular bus route? the next 5 bus is at 5.25 which normally reaches Lwr. Mount St at 5.40 - l aving me wait for over an hour.

What's the deal with the 19 route at 3.30pm, Mon-Fri? Don't the timetable gods @ Dublin Bus know that pupils from schools on that particular route (Glasnevin) get off @ that time and have 2 spend a very pleasant 20 minutes waiting on a bus because one pas es that route about 5 mins. before school's out? For God's sake has no one any common sense in Dublin Bus!!! Don't get me started on the same service on a Friday - some one should tell the drivers/timetable makers that we are on Greenwich Mean Time and no 5 hours behind!!!

How come there isn't a bus service going down Griffith Avenue? There is no bus service from connecting Fairview, Drumcondra, Glasnevin and Finglas. O.k. first time in Dublin. There was no way of telling where to get out, all buses where filled with mud. You ask the driver twice if he can give you a sign where to get out. He forgot!! Had to wait for another bus heading back, of course not in time!! (o k. I know dutch buses can be a little late, but your buses have got Indonesian time. Clean up your buses. I must say that it's a pity that so many people who have submitted to this page can't relate to what the bus drivers are trying to achieve by taking on the government and the management of the company that provides such a bad service. At front row in the firing line, these underpaid workers seem to be getting all the flak for the company they are fighting against. First of all they're underpaid NOT to nurse passengers tattered psyche, Underpaid NOT to take the blame for price rises/rip-offs/crap buses/traffic congestion/lack of general organisation. Secondly, the past governments have starved public transport of funding (priming the situation for some of their mates to set up privately), only 5 percent of funding comes from the state compared to an average of around 50-60 percent for other major citi s across Europe. Thirdly, 10 percent of wealth in Ireland has gone from workers wages to profits of the greedy rich over the last 15 years and it's a fightback like that of the bus drivers that goes to redress this rip-off. SUPPORT THE BUS DRIVERS, maybe then you'll be able to see something done about all those things that piss you off. If you want to vent spleen camp outside the Dail!

According to an article in one of the Sunday papers, a Dublin Bus Driver is been proscuted for racist comments he made to a passanger. He refused to let the passanger on the bus and then told him to go back to his own country and stop taking the Irish go ernments money. I live in Dun Laoghaire and work in Sandyford Industrial estate so the 75 bus is the only direct bus that I can get into work. Luckily we have flexitime here as I just never know what time the 75 is going to turn up. Even though it doesn't really suit m to be in so early, I have no choice but to get the bus that is supposed to leave Dun Laoghaire at 7.25 am as the next one that goes into the industrial estate isn't until 5 pm!!! Dun Laoghaire is the bus terminal and traffic on the roads at that time in the morning is not heavy. So what is the excuse for always being so incredibly late? Today the 7.25 arrived at 7.45. Yesterday it was 7.43. It is never on time but we are so us d to bad public service here in Dublin that we seem to expect buses to be 10 mins or so late. We shouldn't. We have the worst transport system in Europe but maybe if we complained a bit more and with the help of sites like this something might be done.
