Whiskey Wreck

In 1906, a Norwegian timber boat (rumored heavily to have been running rum) was blown ashore by a hurricane. What remains of her hull lies half-buried in the sand in 15 to 20 feet of water approximately 150 yards off the coastline at the 5th street public beach. A local dive shop supplied Ben and I with explicit directions and a map.

Inhabiting the wreck were a handfull of Sergeant Majors, a couple of Sheepshead, barnacles, colorful corals, crabs, and an assortment of baitfish. A few jellies were lurking about as well. Due to a recent rain, visability was poor. Unfortunately, no pictures turned out. When I return for another round, I will plan the dive for high tide and better weather.
