The Physical Environment : |
The island of Bali is part of Indonesia and is located between Java
in the West and Lombok in the East. Bali belongs to an archipelago
of small islands : the Lesser Sunda Islands (NUSA TENGGARA).
Bali is about 150 km long and about 80 km
wide. The principal cities are in the north the port
of Singaraja and near the southern coast, Denpasar, the capital.
Volcanic mountain ranges cross the island from east to west.
The land descends in the south and form an alluvial plain.
Bali has a variety of brethtaking landscapes.
In the West :
The Bali Barat National Park take up the western part
of Bali. The land park strech on 20,000 ha.
The sea park comprise 7,000 ha of coral reef and costal waters.
In the Centre :
In the centre of the island, we can find mountaneous scenery.
Mount Agung (3142 m) and mount Batur are the two main volcanos.
In the East :
You will discover the typical rice terraces. The eastern coast
provide an underwater paradise with magnificent coral reefs.
