Terry and I just got back from a week in Tobago, part of the country of Trinidad and Tobago. The country, consisting of mainly the 2 islands is located just north/northeast of Venezuela.
Our main purpose of being in Tobago was for the wedding of our friends "Chip n' Dale" aka Bruce and Dale. The wedding was January 1, 2001 at the newly opened Hilton. They got married on the beach near the pool. Nice affair with a steel band playing right after they ceremony, during the hors d'ovaries and picture taking events. A dinner in one of the restaurants followed, then dancing downstairs. Overall, a wonderful affair and we're very glad we were able to get there.
Of course, no trip to a dive location would be complete without me getting wet as much as possible. After missing the first day of diving due to being caught with "Captain Coward" in a snow storm, we finally arrived Dec 31, 2000 at about 6:00 PM. 1 day late, very tired, but at least we were there.
I had hooked up with a place called "Scuba Adventure Safari" on Tobago to do my diving. Was supposed to have a 5 day package which included a 3 dive day at Speyside and another 3 dive day at a site called Sisters where they usually see hammerheads. Due to being snowed out, we only got 4 days diving in and 10 dives. I ended up diving 3 days with Daria who was Dales "Best Woman". And Also Tigggger for 2 days. I believe Daria got up to dive 20-ish and Tigger broke into double figures for lifetime dives. Nice work ladies!
Diving was mostly drift diving. One site was like being on a roller coaster underwater. Divemaster estimated current at about 2 knots. Not uncontrollable, but you definetly were being swept along. So much for close macro shots on that portion. Overall, the diving was good, but I wouldn't rank it up there with exceptional places like Caymans, Curacao or Bonaire. Maybe it was the sites we went to or the 'groundswells' they said made some of the viz lower than normal. In either case, I didn't see that much that I would venture back before any of the 3 just mentioned.
Enough jabbering already, let's see the pictures DK.....
And now for the more important part of the trip, the wedding photos. These are the best. There are others at home
Here's the shot before they got hitched...obviously it was very windy there.
And now the wedding party
This was a special cake flown over from Trinidad, made by I believe one of Dales Aunts who makes the best cakes in the country.
Now its official
