The tour began inauspiciously. We were told it was going to be cool and wet, and we could have five minutes to go and get some warm clothes. 4 milliseconds after I left the room, everyone was sent out, so they were sitting on the bus waiting for me when I got back.
It was a good drive to the dock, and we began with a twenty minute look at the fishsellers, which some thought about nineteen minutes too long. We then went to a basilica on a hill, which was filled with votive plaques, paintings, and model ships and planes hanging from the roof. They were thanks to Our Lady for favours received in protecting travelers. There were excellent views, including the Isle where the man in the iron mask, and the Count of Monte Christo (the latter fictional)
