Searching for new paths for my mountain bike, I discovered
the province of Biella, that is located in Piedmont, in northwestern Italy.
Apart from the beautiful Alpine paths, I also discovered that Biella and many
other small towns in this province are full of mediaeval sites. Here are some
photos I shot in Biella and Candelo
The fascinating mediaeval Piazzo's
main square (The "Piazzo is the upper neighborhood of Biella) |
Another view of Piazzo neighborhood |
The old Baptistery
(X century) located near the Cathedral of Biella Piano (the lower neighborhood) |
The beautiful Ricetto
of Candelo... |

...with its narrow streets... |
...and its rural atmosphere |

A charming detail of one of these old houses. |
In Piedmont a fortified mediaeval villages is called "Ricetto"
