I'd been back to the french town of Nancy, historical capital of Lorraine's Dukes and today's capital of the French Department of "Meurthe et Moselle", and I had been so breathlessly charmed in front wonder of XVIII century architecture that is "Place Stanislas". A recent restoration gave a new brightness, to this masterpiece brought to the city by its ruler Stanislaw "Stanislas" Leszczynski, a wonderful gift by the polish (after being exiled from his homeland) to his new subjects, the inhabitants of Lorraine. |
