My First Day - 18. August 2000

Within a couple of hours after I was born my big sister came to visit me. In the course of this day my grandparents Omido and Opido also arrived. They were flying in from Cape Town as stand-by-passengers to see me. These are all the photos.

My sister woke up early that morning just as my dad thought that he could catch an hour's sleep. She walked to his bed to find that mom was missing. Dad explained to her that I have arrived and that mom was in hospital with me. She was quite happy with that explanation since she also knew about my arrival. She then opted to play with dad who would rather have slept a little but he had no choice.

Then she wanted to see me, so the two of them got dressed, dad called his boss to take the day off and then they came to St. Dominic's Hospital to see me. Alicia was very excited about her little brother. She touched me very gently and gave me a doll as a present that is now keeping an eye on me. She even rolled me through the ward in my small cot.

Early afternoon Omido called to inform us that they were at the airport in Cape Town. They would be on the next plane to East London as stand-by-passengers. So dad woke up Alicia and told her, that Omido and Opido were just about to arrive. Alicia had her lunch (a banana) at the airport while waiting for the plane to arrive. She was very excited - then all of them visited mom and me at St. Dominic's Hospital as it happened to be visiting time.

I am still a little tired having been born just about 12 hours ago.

My big sister really seems to love me. She wants to hold me all the time and was quite jealous when Opido also wanted to see and touch me. She would not let him and wanted me all for herself.
