We visited Dominican in March of '98. Henri, Paul, Paule, Kim, Ryan and myself. We took off out of Mirabel in Montreal, direct to Puerto Platta, Dom. Typical 3.5 hr. flight brings you to most Caribbean destinations. We stayed at the Hoscienda Tropical, a 4 star hotel compound on the islands north eastern side. We were about 50 km from the Hatian border. The scenerey was beautiful, clean sandy beaches, lots of trees and plant life surround the hotel. The hotel itself was very nice, clean, nice sized rooms with two double beds and a balcony with chairs. There was always fresh drinking water in coolers in the hallway. The food was very good. Buffet style, all you can eat. Fresh fruit, each morning was a good way to get started. Once you get used to the different coffee flavor and the weird milk you were all set. The way it worked was, anyone staying at the "Tropical" (as there were 5 other hotels in the same compound), had free access the the other hotels for food, drinks and the use of their features. This was nice, as we went to a different theme restaurant each night. There was Chinese, Italian, greek and mexican. It was an enjoyable time had by all of us, I would recommend it to anyone. The only problem was there was no scuba diving anywhere around there.
The gang of us outside of the hotel.
A couple views of around the hotel and the pool.
Two views of the shoreline around our hotel, great quiet beaches and lots of palm trees.
Another view of the beach from the pool. Stopping for a cerveca at Sousua

We never know where we will end up or what we will see when we head out!
We stopped at an Ambulance station to talk with the guys and see what kind of a setup that they have.
More of the scooter experience!
