A correspondent says that of all the Canary Islands, Tenerife seems to cater the least for nudist and nudist beaches (although it is the busiest island). Fuerteventura is the best. Gran Canaria has a superb and very busy beach at Maspalomas, Lanzarote although the beaches are very good, access is diabolical to the best beaches and often the recommended ones are taken over by textiles and boats.Fuerteventura

Corralejo
Larga Beach
Beautiful nudebeach of about 10 km situated about 3 km outside Corralejo, split up by 2 hotels where you have to be dressed. A very peaceful place to stay. This beach is visited by clothed people as well as nude people (isn't that great!). The beginning of the beach is rocky and so you can only into the sea with flood, when sand has been washed over the rocks. Closer to the hotels, the beach is more sandy; it is an area with dunes of about 60 m, along the main road to the city. Worthwhile to pay a visit! My correspondent has been there several times already and keeps going back!
To get there from Corralejo it is quite an end by feet, but there is a little train that brings you about 1 km from where the beach begins.

Valle Gran Rey
Terrific nudebeach, where you only can find some shadow close to the rocks early in the morning. There are no facilities. You can put your tent here, but my correspondent recommends a nice little room in the nearby pension.
You can find the spectacular Valle Gran Rey in the west. In the little village of Vueltas (harbor) where a lot of pensions are situated, you will find a track along the harbor that leads you to the nudebeach.

Castillo De Papagayo

Situated east from Playa Blanca. The beaches of the bays have fine sand. There are no facilities, so take your drinks and parasol. The sea can be wild some days. My correspondent says that some people even spend the night on the beach.
You can easily get there from Playa Blanca (a nice place to stay) by following the signs to Playa Papagayo. The road that leads you there has no tarmac, and can be very dusty.

The island of La Graciosa is a small island inhabited by fishermen and their families. It has some marvelous uncrowded beaches.
It can be reached by boat from Orzola at the North of Lanzarote.

Beautiful sandy beach where both naturists and clothed people are. Disadvantage: at some places pieces of tarmac are lying on the beach.
To get there, follow on TF-111 from Santa Cruz the direction of San Andrés and Las Teresitas. Once you have passed a little hill, turn right and you will arrive at Playa de las Gaviotas.
El Médano
Situated about 20 km to the north of Playa de las Americas.
Beautiful long nudebeach where a lot of naturists enjoy the sun. My correspondent says that during the summer of 1998 over 300 naturists coming from all over Europe spent theyr days overthere. You can hire a chairs for about 300 pesetas a day.
To get there, drive north on the highway and take the exit just after the airport (El Medano) and drive towards the coast. About 1 km from town, take the paved road to the right (TF 6214). Continue about 2,5 km until you see a rather dirty road (a lot of cars are parked overthere). Park the car and follow the track up to the big hill. Walk along the textile beach and climb over the rocky hill until you reach the sand beach.
La Caleta De Adeje
Las Canadas
Los Christianos
Beautiful sandy beach visited by a lot of naturists (about 20 when my correspondent was there during the summer of 1998). He also told that your feet might hurt when walking along the rocky beach... The most distant part of the beach has a 'gay area'.
To get there, follow the road along the Hotel Gran Arona toward the big hill in the north of the town. Follow the beach via a small track untill you reach the rocky beach, where you can choose a nice place between the rocks that is not too windy.
A correspondent could not find the beach at Los Christianos in 1999. Any feedback on that would be appreciated.
Montaña Pelada
Situated nearby El Médano. Beautiful little bay where naturism is allowed. It might be windy some days, and now and then pieces of tarmac may be washed ashore.
To get there, follow the Calle Jose Reyes Martin street from El Médano in the direction of Hotel Calimera Atlantic Playa. Keep on following the road, even when the tarmac ends, till you get to a parking. From there on, follow the track to the bay.
Montaña Roja
-
Beautiful bay, protected from wind by the hill. You can find a snackbar nearby.
A correspondent says assumes that the beaches of Montana Roja and El Medano are the same. He visited the beach in 1999. The first beach is very big but not very friendly due to the wind, the small one (where you climb over the rock is nice, but very small. It has a lovely "pool" to swim in though, very protected and nice water. At weekends it got very busy with lots of local people, which gave it a lovely atmosphere.
On the TF1 take exit 22 and follwo the TF-614 for about 3 km till you see a ship nearby El Médano. Turn right on the TF-6214 here and follow the direction of Los Abrigos (for about 2 km). Turn left and park the car. Follow the track at the left side of the beach, climb up the hill and you will arrive at the naturist beach.
Pico del Teide
Torviscas
There is supposed to be a naturist beach just above Torviscas, which my correspondent could not find in 1999, maybe because an awful lot of new building work was going on. Any feedback on that would be appreciated.
