The Magic Kingdom Trip Report
January 17, 1999
8:15 am

We leave the Comfort Inn Maingate on I-192 and head into the Walt Disney World Resort.

8:30 am

Excitement builds as the sparkling Magic Kingdom sign that is over the toll booth comes into view. We pay our parking fee and follow the signs to the "World's largest asphalt parking lot."

8:40 am

We take the monorail from the Transportation Central and arrive at the Magic Kingdom. The Disney cast members take our tickets and we walk under the grand Central Railroad Station. I always love looking at the colorful, animated posters of the rides that line the inner walls.

8:50 am

We collect our brochures, use the rest rooms and walk down Main Street admiring the elaborate Cinderella's Castle.

8:55 am

We wait behind the rope to the entrance to Frontierland. Then all of a sudden, the music heightens and a voice introduces us to this magical place.

9:00 am

The ropes are dropped and the crowd rushes through. My family heads straight for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

9:05 am

We enter the rustic railroad station and then walk into the basement where we board the box cars.
9:10 am

We are riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I love the second drop followed by the wicked 760 degree spiral.

9:15 am

We walk on over to the bridge that overlooks Splash Mountain. Then after watching a few boats scream down, we decide to enter the line.
9:30 am

I am purchasing my soveneir photo of me on Splash Mountain. We leave Frontierland and then enter Caribbean Plaza, part of Adventureland. Next, we enter Pirates of the Caribbean.

9:40 am

There isn't much of a line, so we hop on the orangish colored boats. This ride shows off Disney's original animatronics magic. Now, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure uses the latest in animatronics technology.
