Facts about Thai Food

Thai dishes provide a real challenge for the discriminating diner as the subtle variety of tastes explode the moment spoon touches the lips.
Some will think, from hearsay, that Thai food is either spicy, very spicy or very, very spicy. but there are actually many different Thai "tastes" of which spicy is only one. With Thai food, you will experience a delightful blend of sweet, sour, salt and texture, brought together in delicious combinations which are unique to Thai dining.
Most people are familiar with the reputation of the Thai chilies. Thai people call them "prig" and have a few judicious nicknames for the hottest of them. There are no less than 10 types of chilies, ranging from the atomic to the very mild. Here at Toomies we can prepare your favorite dishes as spicy as you like. If you prefer, we can "tone it down" a little. Simply tell your server how you'd like the dish prepared ( and please remember that everyone's definition of hot is a little different. )
Important as they are, chili peppers and spices constitute only one of the many ingredients which the Thai chefs orchestrate into flavorful symphonies here. You'll also enjoy the tender citrus taste of lemon grass, or the fresh tang of tamarind, as well as lime, sesame seeds, stalks of bamboo shoots and so on. A wide range of spices such as cumin, nutmeg, curry powder, basil, cloves and bay leaves are used in our kitchen, and we regard the proper combination of these ingredients to be a high culinary art.
