Why am I so fascinated by travelling?

It is a big question, which is difficult to answer in a few words. I guess other travellers agree with me on this. However, I will try, in the following, to explain for you as good as I can.

In my opinion, travelling is a total concept, it is a mixture of endless things and feelings that you are faced with, when travelling.
It might be the feeling of walking on the streets of Bangkok or Saigon, as well as walking on the Great Wall in China or watching the sunset at Ankor Wat. It is not only the big things or the big attractions, that creates the travelling feeling but the concept of getting there, solving problems, dealing with the locals or spending time with people you meet. The word, adventure, doesn´t only apply to Indiana Jones or Mount Everest. People tend to explore on different stages as a function of their previous experience.
Travelling is also about learning in many aspects. You learn about yourself, how you react when faced with things that you are not used to. The more you get this experience, the better you get to handle different unexpected situations in life. This is a skill that is very useful in solving future problems. Further more, you often get in extreme situations concerning language, culture, etc., situations that forces you to think differently in order to make a decision. You need to review yourself, in order to understand why people look at you in another way than you are used to. If you succeed  in these situations you have moved one step further in the aspect of decision making. You are now more able to break down your mental constraints, constraints that often blind the creative decisionmaking process. People tend to forget this and tend to continue in the way they use to work or act, but then how can they create creativity?
Another learning aspect is understanding. To learn to understand other people is a very useful tool. When travelling you are often forced to understand other people, whether it is the local people or your travelling partner. Understanding other people gives you a much better travelling experience. It also makes you think much more about other people and the way they think. Often conflicts and problems can be solved, when people know how other people think, thereby understanding why they think as they do. Then, the disagreement makes much more sense. You might have another opinion or want something else, but at least it is easier for you to accept when you understand. A good adivice is never to underestimate other people, there is always a reason why other people think as they do.

Travelling is also about being free, about doing whatever you like, a wish a lot of people is fascinated by, but in their everyday life they are locked. When travelling you get the opportunity to free your mind and follow your desires.
The life of people is getting more and more intense, more and more stressed and busy. Therefore, travelling is used as a way to escape from their everyday life!
