Shen Lung Xi Stream in Hubei Province

Shen Lung Xi is one of the many streams in Hubei Province that branches out of the ChiangJiang (Yangtze) river.  Along Shen Lung Xi, clear water flows from the mountains into the Yangtze.

I had a chance to travel to the stream with the foreign cooperation office staff of China U. of Geosciences.  The high-light of this trip was the raft float.  We rode a wooden raft that held a total of 15+ tourist.  The raft was motioned by the slow current of the stream (estimated at around 8 km/h (5mi/h)) and navigated by an attendant.  We enjoyed the calm and refreshing environment while being leisurely transported along the stream toward the Yangtze.

This is the starting point of the raft float trip.  The rafts haven't arrived yet, but I am already excited about the whole thing and decided to walk out to the middle of the stream.  This is how shallow the water is!  Water is clear and brisk, with tiny fishes swimming in it.
