Denial
Sorry I choose not to post my name but I do plan on eventually "again" applying for a work permit and maybe having it approved for a change. I have lived on these island for seven years now and for the past four years have been denied a work permit in my area of employ. Each year the owner of the company appeals the work permit refusal and is subsequently granted a permit for myself to manage his company. I am an educated person with several degrees (one of which includes accounting which is one of the numerous services I provide). This year I am told that because I have lived on the island in excess of five years and am now entitled to apply for a Residency Permit (which I also am eligible for under the guidelines which are set out by the Government). The Government has chosen to decline my permit, would like me to leave the island, return as a first time "arrival" therefore I would not be eligible for my residency permit therefore Immigration would not have to grant me a Residency Permit when I apply. With some legal background I can say that this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life also extremely ILLEGAL. How can these people get away with such behaviour. Surely the human rights department should be notified about these behaviours. I have seen over the past months several Haitian Decendants sent off the island after living here for years. These poor people have provided service for years and are told on a days notice to pack their personal belongings and leave the island immediately. How on earth can someone of limited means ship all their belongs (vehicles included) over seas on a days notice. It is not only cruel but inhuman. For a culture which are descendants from slaves they treat fellow human beings no better than their ancesters were treated years ago. I cannot understand how an Immigration Officer takes pleasure in showing up at the place of business of a person, passing them their deniel paper while laughing in their face and advising them that they have one week to vacate the island. A little "venting" going on here. My past permit denials were in connection with the collection of Company Debts, finding employees pocketing large sums of cash and selling off company stock without the knowledge of the owner. Obviously I have been penialized for doing my job well. For being honest and having good work ethic. Excuse me ....... I am sure that their are other countries whom would welcome and educated investor with open arms (and treat them with the respect that they have shown to others). The whole idea of denying permits on the basis of "not wanting people to apply for Residency" is crazy... leave it to the Turks Islanders....
