My wife and myself were in Providenciales for 10 days on a business/vacation trip. We found most of the people to be very friendly and helpful until I needed help with my laptop. The modem died and when I phoned around using the yellow pages as a guide I found the Business companies to be totally unhelpful. If they even bothered to return a phone call they were rude and obnoxious, the common answer was "we did not sell it so we will not fix it, and no we cannot help you" We mentioned this to a waiter at a bar who told us about a small white van that has advertising on it with a phone number. The next day we saw the van and phoned the number unfortunately he did not have a new modem to sell us, we explained the predicament we were in as we needed our laptop, he then offered to loan us his modem from his laptop. True to his word he appeared within the hour and installed his modem. At the end of our stay on returning his modem he would not accept payment but would sit and have a drink with us. He hoped we were not put of by the Island and would return again. We have forgotten his name all we can remember is he was Scottish and his company had a Scottish name some thing like Calidion. we will certainly return to the Islands as most people are very friendly, as for the dust, the beauty of the beaches more than make up for it.
