TRIPOLI..
* The biggest city in the Jamahiryia.
* Established by the Phoenicians in the first millennium B.C. and they named it ( Oea ).
* It was one of the Phoenician trade harbors: Leptis Magna - Oea - Sabratha.
* There are two museums in Tripoli, the Islamic museum, and Museums of AL-SARAY EL-HAMRA.
* The most famous traditional markets in this city are:
-Souk AL-Tourk: For selling garments.
-Souk AL-Horia: For selling women's silk clothes.

-SoukAL-Kisdara: For repairing and tinning copper ware. -Souk AL-Nijara: For wood work.
-Souk AL-Sage: For gold and silver works.

*During Yousf Karamanli's reign, Tripoli was known worldwide.
Theat was when the Libyan naval forces reached it's peak, in prosperity and strength in the late 18th century and Early19th.
The naval dominated the Western parts of the Mediterranean sea from Tripoli to Morrocco, and imposed taxes on all the European and American ships passing through this area.
