| It's been more than 15 years that I started living, teaching, and traveling overseas - since 1993 when I left a comfortable life teaching at a great school, Christa McAuliffe Elementary. Although I never tired of the teaching, my life in Kansas was one that had become somewhat dull, actually completely dull, so I joined the Peace Corps and spent over 2 years in the Republic of Kiribati. I wanted change, I wanted challenges, and I wanted to live in and learn about new cultures. I have done and continue to do just that. Early last year I returned to Kiribati as a Peace Corps Tech Trainer; and began a few months later teaching at the College of the Marshall Islands on Majuro in the Education Dept. training teachers where I've been for 3 years. |

| July 2008 Nearing the end of summer vacation. I'll be flying back to the Marshall Islands in about a week. Some of the time was spent with my daughter and some with my friend. |

| Coconut Cup 2006 took place in the lagoon of Majuro...I crewed on the Karmaladen, a 62' ketch, owned by Rixine. Although we had a winning start, outriggers crossing our bow caused us to veer off...it was that or leave their boats in splinters. Nevertheless, we worked hard sailing the course and had great fun! |
