How to move into Geo

Geocities, gives everyone 4 weeks to move into your Geocities' home, away from home.

Don't worry, I'm here to help. Just don't panic. It's going to be OK.

All you have to do is upload to your geocities' directory 1 graphic image and 1 HTML file.

1. Do you have a graphic image on your computer, so you can upload it to your geo directory?
if you haven't, go and get one from my Free Purple graphics, this is the url:
http://geocities.datacellar.net/Heartland/Bluffs/9380/graphmain.html

2. Now go to the file manager. this is the url
http://geocities.datacellar.net/members/tools/file_manager.html

3. enter your user name and password,

When you get inside, you will see your username at the top of the page.
On the left hand side you will see lots of handy links.
Half way down the page you will see your file names, and the only one there for now, is your index.html page. RIGHT!!

4. a bit further down, you will see a utility
called EZ File Upload.

and 5 boxes like this:

Above this box, you will see this:

Automatically convert filenames to lowercase

Automatically change ".htm" extensions to ".html"

Then you will see 2 buttons like this:

Upload File: is to bringh files from your computor to your directory at Geo

Clear: prss clear if you make a mistake.

Go and press the BROWSE button.
You will get a list of files from your computer.
Look for the graphic image you want to upload to your page.
DID YOU FIND IT JET?? .....Welll done!!

NOTE: YOU CAN USE THIS UTILITY TO UPLOAD IMAGES AS WELL AS HTML FILES.

ie: images with extension: .gif or .jpg
or files with extension .html or .htm

5. Now the Ez File Upload is going to upload your files to your directory. And you will be able to see the names in the File Manager
.http://geocities.datacellar.net/members/tools/file_manager.html

If you already have an FTP software, like CuteFTP, or WF_FTP & AceFTP, you might use that instead of using the Ez File Upload tool from Geo. It does the same job.

To set up your FTP software, read this little instructions:
http://geocities.datacellar.net/main/help/guides/guide_ftp.html

I will take you step by step on how to make a page on the Ez Editor.

1.  Go to the file manager
http://geocities.datacellar.net/members/tools/file_manager.html

this is always the starting point.

on the left hand side you will see lots of little links to some very usesfull thinks in Geo...such as Add-Ons, this is were you can get a guestbook, a counter etc.
