Melissa is an analytical chemist who conducts research in
electrochemistry and is particularly interested in it's
applications in biological sensors. She is currently a research
fellow at Monash University (Clayton Campus). Mike is a
biochemist, who has conducted blood research on platelets,
the blood cells responsible for forming blood clots. He worked
at the Australian Center for Blood Diseases in Boxhill from
1998-2000. in February, 2001, he was awarded a fellowship to
continue his research, but chose to leave his postdoc to embark
on a career in viticulture and wine production. He is a student at
Charles Sturt University in Australia, and in April, 2001, he worked
vintage at Red Hill Estate, on the Mornington Peninsula.
After vintage, Melissa became pregnant and Mike found more
gainful employment with Millipore, Australia, Pty. His job involves
selling and trouble shooting laboratory consumables, particularly
filter based products for biochemical research.

Our hobbies include bush-walking, particularly overnight camping,
and wine production, tasting, and (of course) consumption. This
latter is both a hobby and somewhat of a job in itself, as one day
we hope to be able to use our knowledge in chemistry to make a
career for ourselves in the wine industry.
