Here is a photo of our new friends, Georg and Claudia Wolfbauer (on the right) at their marriage ceremony at the end of May--held at the Royal Mint Building in Melbourne. Georg is a Ph.D. student in the Bond lab (Melissa's lab), due to complete his Ph.D. by this October. On the far right, is Darren Coomber, a.k.a. the Daggler, who is also in the Bond lab. You may have heard of him from Melissa's emails. He's a bit of a smart-ass and a really nice guy--word has it that all the women in the Bond lab "fawn" on him.
Here's a photo of nearly all of the Bond lab members when Melissa first joined the lab. From left to right: Truc Vu (Ph.D. student); Vicky Hultgren (post-doc); Georg Wolfbauer (Ph.D. student); Claudia Wolfbauer (Georg's new wife); Melissa (you know who she is); and Darren Coomber (post-doc and footy/cricket expert).
Later that evening, Georg and Claudia had a small reception-style dinner at a Hungarian restaurant in some distant Melbourne suburb. We rented a bomb with Vicky and Ross...a great deal for $25/day if you don't drive outside of the Melbourne suburbs. Only problem was that the car stalled out in a major intersection, and Mike and Ross had to push it into a parking lot so we could start it! How embarrassing. The evening was still enjoyable nonetheless--great food, great new friends, and lots beer and wine! Below is a photo of Mike and I outside the restaurant.
