While in Waitomo, we also visited Woodlyn Park, where owner Barry Woods performed a farm show for our lonesome threesome (we were the only people in the audience, which meant we were also the only volunteers!). It was great fun. At left, Mom finally gets to pet a possum without chasing it away! At right, Mike and I learn how to sheer a sheep the old fashioned way.

The following day, we drive to the center of the North Island and checked-into the Chateau at Tongariro National Park. We were in awe of our World Heritage surroundings, where active volcanoes lined the horizon. |
