Lot of people and politicians hint that tiger conservation and love for wildlife is an elitist quest and bird watching even more so.  This becomes quiet evident in public life. 

But this ia purely a myopic and unjustified view mired in sheer lack of concern for Indian environment.   Not only conservation of wildlife even tiger tour draws a major flak from this sector.

This cynical attitude is unfortunate since I have been a regular visitor to tiger reserves which attract a large number of tourist interested in Indian wildlife and sighting the endangered Bengal tiger. Most of the tourist whether from India or abroad are new to wildlife and have never seen a tiger in the wild.

Upon visiting the pristine environment and watching the wonderful wildlife, birds and tigers they are initiated into thinking about the environment and many of then turn conservationist or develop regards for nature..what more can eco tourism offer.



In addition ecotourism fetches jobs for the local tribals and a boost to travel and hotel industry. In fact this is the most eco friendly industry in the World.
