Food Chain & Tiger :

Tiger is a a primary predator.
It sits at the top of the food chain.
It is a tertiary carnivore.
It's main prey base is Bison, Chital, Sambhar and Wild Boar .
It eats other animals small and big. It may eat carrion.
As a tertiary carnivore the tiger controls the population of herbivores.

Tiger often preys on live stock as cattle and buffaloes.

Tiger can eat upto 30 kg of meat in one day. , Tiger is an apex species, indicator of the health of the forests (ecosystem).

Tiger kills by ambush as it is not an open country animal like lion and does not live in a pride. Hence being a solitary animal - except when mating and with cubs - this is the best method. It is capable of short bursts and not long runs as the lions are. When prey base decreases due to poaching, disease and habitat loss the Bengal tiger is forced to kill cattle and the man animal conflict begins. Habitat Destruction is the major cause of tiger's plight in India.

The White Tiger is a tiger with a reccesive gene not a seperate species. Race in India- tigris.
Habitat: Densely forested areas avoids scrub forests does not live in open grass lands types. Habitat is not the same as Lions.
