The Principality of Monaco lies between the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea. It is actually perched on the Alps. Bounded by the French Riviera to the west and the Italian Riviera to th east. The principality is half a mile wide and three mils long. There are about 30,000 people living in Monaco and only about 5,000 real Monegasque people (real natives). The official language is French, however Italian and English are widelly spoken. The natives still speak their own language, it is an old Italian Dialect. The French Franc is Monaco's correcy, Monagasque coins are minted and are of the same value of the French coins, however their coins are only good in Monaco and nowhere else. If you are ever going to the south of France or to the north of Italy it is really worth making an excursion of a day or two to this stamp size country. |
