Alpujarra Mountains

Andalucia, Spain

HOUSE TO LET IN PARADISE

IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH, I CAN ALSO OFFER PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES AND ARRANGE SPANISH LESSONS

Ferreirola is a tiny whitewashed hamlet in the Alpujarra Mountains in Andalucia, Spain. "Hauntingly tranquil" and "the prettiest of all the villages in La Taha" according to the last two guidebooks I saw, it has no cars beyond the village square where you may bump into the local shepherd and his flock. There are no shops, a tiny bar open for half the year and a small flamenco dance studio two doors away.

The village is three hours away from Malaga Airport at 1000 metres above sea level in the Sierra Nevada National Park. It is a wonderful holiday venue for walkers, nature lovers and those who want to escape from the world for a while. The area was cultivated by the Moors for hundreds of years and there are olive, almond, fig and pomegranate trees on the terraced hillside, still watered by the irrigation system they introduced.

I have a pair of traditional beamed houses on the edge of the village with uninterrupted views of the mountains. I live in one and rent the other. The guest house has a large living / dining room with woodburning stove, kitchen, bathroom and a double bedroom which is reached through a smaller room with twin beds. There is a covered balcony and an enormous roof terrace from where to watch the sun set or to count the stars.

I am a photographer and also offer courses for beginners or advanced students with an introduction to Photoshop. Spanish lessons can be arranged in the village.
