Enneagram
The enneagram, applied to human relationships, attempts to identify nine personality types or motivations:
1 - Perfectionist ( or Reformer)
2 - Giver ( or Helper)
3 - Performer (or Motivator)
4 - Romantic ( or Individualist, Artist)
5 - Observer (or Thinker)
6 - Trooper (or Guardian, Devil's Advocate, Loyalist, Questioner, Defender)
7 - Epicure ( or Generalist, Enthusiast, Producer)
8 - Boss (or Leader)
9 - Mediator (or Peacemaker)
There are several enneagram tests on the web. Two are 140 or so questions that are scored online, the third is a fourteen question do it your self.
Some web sites to learn about enneagrams or take the tests are http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/Discover.asp , http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/dis_sample_36.asp,and the score it yourself one is http://www.duniho.com/fergus/enneagram/test/ .
It appears I am all over the board. Two tests put me as a type four (Romantic, Individualist, Artist), but one of those tests had equal score for type 6 (Trooper, Guardian, Devils Advocate, Loyalist, Questioner, Defender). Another test said only type 6. In the other test I scored equally as a type 7 (Epicure, Generalist, Enthusiast, Productive). My reading of this is - I am a four, six, seven (Loyal Romantic with lots of Enthusiasm), but I am also sometimes a two (Giver), three (Performer), five (Thinker), or a nine (Mediator). My kids would not agree that I do the Mediator well at all.
My three test results:
( 13, 17, 18, 19, 17, 15, 19, 9, 17 ) Type 4 or 7 with
3,2,5,9 significant
( 67, 70, 62, 75, 62, 75, 72, 67, 67) Type 4 or 6 with
7 significant
(D 5, W 2, A 1, M 4, R 3 ) MD=Type 6
