It took a while to get over the pain
I felt when I first heard a woman proclaim
that "Men are Dogs" you know.
Now as I look inside to see what is me,
I find that it's true, only I like what I see.
A more loyal companion can't be found anywhere,
the hopes of a hug or a kiss keep me aware.
I wait like a dog for an expression of love.
Eager to know that she'll soon come around,
her hero, her knight, her pillow, I hope to be found.
Don't beat around the bush when something comes up,
I'll have no clue what to do, I think like a pup.
Everything should be solved with a touch or a rub.
When I'm told what to do, quite helpful I can be.
I am eager to please, surely that is easy to see.
I want to eat and sleep by the side of my master,
and hear her say come hither, now run ever faster.
I long to just sit together to watch
a romantic movie of love and laughter,
the stories of happiness that last ever after.
Its a simple wish to be loved for what I am.
Others may be a knight, a hero or ham,
I'm just an old pup with love to offer,
Hoping she will see past my ticks and fleas,
clean me up and ask me to please.
