Buffy and Faith were patrolling in one of the numerous cemetaries around Sunnydale, talking about what had happened between them.
"So...yeah. I'm real sorry about all that stuff, Angel, chaining you up and all that crap. Um, could you tell everyone I'm sorry?" Faith hated being sorry, but this was Buffy. She'd understand why Faith was saying this.
"Why don't you tell them yourself?" Buffy asked gently.
"You kiddin', B? They'd kill me before I got in the door!" Faith smiled wistfully. "...not like I don't deserve it, though. I was a real bitch..." Faith trailed off, and hung her head in shame.
"Yeah, you were..." replied Buffy. Faith's head shot up to give Buffy an indignant glare until she saw Buffy was smiling.
"Oh. Yeah...joke, right? I knew that."
"Did not..."
"Did too! Jeez, you've changed, B! I don't think I've seen you this cheery...well...ever!" Faith smiled. "You know, I reckon we need to hit the town. I know just the place. Wanna swing it later?"
"Sure, Faith, only right now I gotta patrol, and so do you, seeing as you're still employed by the Council and all..."
"Okay, Ms. Rogue-Slayer, I get the point. You had the cahones to quit, I didn't. But if you're not playin', why you still slayin'?"
"You're a fool. Come on, I wanna check out the church grounds before we continue. There's been some weird stuff going on over there lately." Buffy led Faith towards the church, keeping an eye out for vampires.
"I know where the church is, B. I have been known to freqent it." Faith muttered.
"Really? Didn't see you as the religious type, Faith." Quipped Buffy.
"Not religious, just go there when...I gotta sort shit out..." mumbled Faith, embarrassed at revealing such an intimate part of herself. Buffy put an arm around Faith's shoulders, and smiled.
"It's okay Faith, I won't tell anyone. Besides, everyone needs a little...faith...now and then." Buffy blushed as she said this, and laughed at herself. Faith was somewhat puzzled by Buffy's behaviour, but she let it slide.
They cruised around the church, finding nothing. Faith soon noticed her concentration sliding. She knew she had to go and let some steam loose.
"B, come one, let's go party! I'm gettin' impatient." Buffy sighed.
"Ok, Faith, let's rock. I want to stop home and change first."
"A...at your house? Don't think that's a good idea, B. I mean, your mom..."
"Don't worry," Buffy smiled. "She's in LA."
"Wicked cool! Let's motor, then." They walked in silence until they reached Buffy's house. As they walked in the front door, Faith sighed.
"Um, I'll just wait here, okay B? 'Sides, I don't have any clothes to change." At this, Buffy smiled mysteriously.
"You remember the dreams, right?" Faith just nodded. "Then come upstairs." Buffy quickly ran up the stairs. Faith followed. She entered Buffy's bedroom to find a pair of leather pants, a black mini tee, and her leather jacket on the bed.
"B?" Faith started, puzzled. She had no idea what to say.
"The dream...you said I could...I borrowed some of your clothes. It, um, reminded me of you..." Buffy turned away, blushing furiously. Faith shook her head.
"Whatever, B. Get changed so we can party. We have a lot to catch up on."
***
Faith smiled as she opened the door. Heavy bass and loud, pulsing techno hit them in a wave of sound. She loved this place, the underground rave scene. As they hit the bottom of the stairs, she took Buffy's hand and lead her through the crowd to the bar.
Signalling to the bartender, he brought over two drinks. Faith picked up her glass, downing it in one go. Buffy gingerly sipped the drink. She turned to Faith.
"This has alcohol in it!" Buffy yelled in Faith's ear.
"So what, B? Loosen up!" Buffy sighed and downed her drink as Faith had done. She looked around the room. Buffy had never seen so much leather, body piercing and tattoos in the one place. It amused her, because she thought she knew everything that went bump in th night in her town, but never knew of this place. She turned back to the bar, and saw Faith had ordered another drink each. Buffy grasped a glass and raised it in a toast with Faith. They clinked their glasses together, and downed their drinks.
"Let's go dance, Faith!" yelled Buffy, grabbing Faith's hand and leading her to the dancefloor. As they started dancing, Faith's eyebrows shot up when she realised that Buffy was dirty dancing with her. Two can play at that game... thought Faith mischeviously. Placing her hands on Buffy's hips, she pulled her in very close. Looking directly into Buffy's eyes, Faith noticed the lust in them. Buffy 'Ms. Straight-as-they-come' Summers is hot for me?! What's going on? The words Alternate Universe briefly flashed through Faith's mind, but then why was everything else the same? This was probably a case of alcohol loosening inhibitions.
Buffy was enjoying herself immensly. Not only is Faith back...she's in my arms! Could the night get much better? As Buffy's drunken mind raced on to other thoughts she began to chuckle.
"Faith, let's get out of here, I need some fresh air...right after one last drink. Whaddaya say?"
"Sure, B, sure." Um, what the fuck is going on? Oh well...one for the road... As they threw their drinks back, neither were aware of the figure standing in the shadows watching them. The figure watched as the girls staggered up the stairs and back up into the night.
This could be a good night, after all. Perhaps...
