Polynesia Singles Cruise

Part Two

April 1996

Polynesia Singles Cruise April 1996 Friday.. Anguilla.. We were not supposed to end up in Anguilla but a private little island I was on two years ago. But the day was cloudy and the sea’s too rough for landing on the island. We ended up in Anguilla and the skies cleared. We went to the beach Shoals beach. The water was crystal clear with amazing clear reefs. Fairly decent snorkeling and the sand was like powder. For a rainy day it ended up a sunny and very good day. Again another great day. Last raising of the sails This is the most special raising of the sails that I have ever seen. I talked the bartender into turning up the Amazing Grace music louder. The way it should be! Loud! I was sitting with Andrea and Rochelle as the sails were raised while Danielle was sitting next to this guy Steve who had lost his daughter. I could not see his face but could see that she was comforting him at this magical moment. I also noticed that my cabin-mate had tears streaming down his face. Andrea noticed this and touched Danielle’s shoulder and told her about Sticks (cabin-mates name). Next thing you know Danielle had Sticks crying on her shoulder while Steve was emotional on her other shoulder. It was a sight. It was the way of these wonderful women. The music was just right with the higher volume, the sun was setting and everything was right in the world. I was next to two women I cared deeply about and the third was helping two men heal their pain, each had his own and I was so proud of the sisters. It was the best raising of the sails I can remember and I have seen quite a few. You had to be there to even appreciate it. I was and am very lucky. Sticks came up to me later and told me that he was pleased that he roomed with me and told me that through me he was able to meet three special women who made the cruise the most memorable event that he will never forget. It was moving. I did nothing it was the sisters who treated him nice. Captains Dinner. Danielle could not join us that night which is to bad since it was a great dinner. Captain Max put on his Rocky Raccoon show which is a sight to see. He had us laughing a lot. He went above the call of duty. We drank a lot of Champagne and had a great dinner. After dinner Popeye did the fire ice cream stuff. I forgot what you call it. Andrea was one of the helpers which meant she ended up having to drink down a big shot of 151 run. Fire in her throat. Me, Rick (my forest fire friend), Andrea and Rochelle danced while others chatted. It seemed we were the only ones dancing. It was nice like there was no one there except us. That last night was another great night. We arrived in port early Saturday. Slept on deck again. Said good-byes and such. Rochelle, Andrea and me took a special to order launch for them into town so they could extended their stay on the island. They were suppose to leave that day but wanted to extend it. Rochelle worked the phone with the airlines on the island but no luck. She ended up calling the USA American Airlines and no sweat, they were able to stay until Monday Afternoon. Great. We went aboard ship and it took Danielle a while to decide if she was going to stay also. In the end she did. I really must say that Captain Max was great. The second (maybe soon first) mate Jim was terrific and the first mate Mark (I think that is his name) was nice too. We finally left the ship. Danielle decided to stay. The three of them were to share my room on Orient Beach with me. It was so nice and amazing to have them with me on my favorite beach on my other favorite island at my favorite hotel. We had a blast laying out in the sun. The first night we were suppose to meet other windjammers near the airport but ended up having a wonderful dinner at a place called Surf Club South. The rest of the story is not of the ship so I will end it here. Except to say that it was so sad saying goodbye to these wonderful women. My very good friends. I kissed and hugged each one goodbye and watched them get into the taxi. Then to my utter amazement and shock buckets of tears gushed out of my eyes. I was stunned that they were leaving and now realized that very strong effect they had on me. It was one of the worse feelings I every had. One I never expected. I was so very sad for that whole day and night. I perked up the next day but it was not the same. My friends were gone and a piece of my heart left the island with them. I was ready to leave on Wednesday. It was time. I left out the Pimps Pirates and Prostitutes night and the Crab races. Since I forgot what nights they happened. I made a lot of great friends and renewed some old friendships and had the best vacation I ever had. After six cruises in two years I have yet to have a bad one. For those who have questioned about the Singles Cruises being wild I say think again. The single cruises for singles can be wonderful just as the normal couple\single mix cruises can be. If you are single then try a single cruise on the Polynesia. Again every cruise is a great experience but some are better then others, but none are bad.
