New House - September 2000 - Flooring

After the sheetrock was finished, Rick primed it and finish-coated the ceiling.

Living room floor Central core floor
Bruce Shirley of RBS Lumber and Millwork originally planned to put the floor in with a team of eight on 22 July. This plan was screwed up by the sheetrock crew. Bruce tried to reassemble the crew for 26 August but had to wait until after Labor Day (9 Sep). Thus, Mr Cassidy's inability to keep to his schedule cost us about six weeks. However, Bruce said he would get the floor in on Saturday and Sunday with his crew and and and finish it over the following week. After two weeks we went on a two week vacation. Even though the floor wasn't quite finished, Bruce said it would be done and our vanities would be installed when we returned. They weren't, but the floor was finished. The living room is a vast expanse of mahogany, but the beauty is somewhat lost in the glare. The picture of the fireplace probably shows the floor to better effect.

Guest Bedroom Pine floor
This is the guest bedroom. Pine was used on the second floor. 1x12" rough-sawn pine was planed, milled for tongue and groove and sanded. After installation Rick drilled a 3/8" hole every two feet along the edges of the boards and screwed them down. The hole was then plugged.
