Before our two week vacation starting 22 Sep, RBS Lumber said the vanities would be installed when we returned and the kitchen cabinets shortly thereafter. When we returned there was nothing there. RBS finally delivered the four vanities about three weeks later than promised. Although Rick had set all toilets and all showers and tubs (except the jacuzzi) were working, no sinks could be installed without a vanity.
While waiting for Godot, Rick installed the washer and dryer and then build a cabinet for the laundry room. The countertop came from Wayne Underwood and looked fine with a bit of cleaning, stain, and poly. The sink and faucet came from Rick's parent's house after they remodeled. |
Still waiting, Rick built a vanity for the basement bath, tiled the top with leftover shower wall tile and dropped in a $10 sink from Capitol Plumbing's discontinued shed. The custom-built, mahogany vanities finally arrived and look great with the mahogany floor. This is the office bath vanity with a $100 sink from the going out of business sale. |
The vanity for the half bath off the central core of the house slipped into place. Rick put a sheet of plywood on top and used thinset to set some leftover shower floor tiles to make the top. The $40 mirror came from Salem's junk/antique store. A drop-in sink and faucets completed the ensemble. |
