rick & dave clearing cleared garage site
We started the site work by clearing the area for the garage and parking area. This is Rick (left) and Dave Russell, our hunter, taking out the oak and birch for firewood and cursing the poplar for existing. The 14" Stihl chainsaw worked like a champ. Here it is after clearing, awaiting the excavator who will remove the stumps.
Wayne Underwood, excavator well drilling rig
Wayne Underwood brought up his baby to coax our plot into submission. The first task was to get a road up to the site that the various trades can use. First to arrive was Clarence Gould, our well driller from Pawlet, Vermont, who drilled a well for the original house first. The house had a shallow well and the suction line was leaking air into the system so badly that the system failed.
starting to drill Wayne trenching

Wayne trenched (150 feet).
rick & plum nancy on excavator
Rick backfilled and attacked a dead plum tree ...
with Nancy's help.
