Other Quarry Road Fauna

While looking for mushrooms in the spring of 2001, we found several of these very cute newts, but no few mushrooms.

This snake actually slithered about 15 feet up the side of the old house and was feasting on the phoebe babies in the nest under the eaves. Martha was in the garden and noticed that the phoebe parents were frantic. Rick was called down from the new house and poked at the snake with the extendable tree pruner until the snake was removed, but the nest came down also. It had a baby in it so, using the big ladder, it was put back in place, but the parents never returned.
