This is Fern, a 30 ton haul truck. She's yellow, I'm the small guy in front. As my subcontractors were not getting their jobs done on the new house, I had some spare time, and my buddy Wayne had some spare equipment.

Wayne was building a pond for Music from Salem, the local chamber music group. He ran the excavator and his son ran the dozer, but unless they wanted to hop in and out of the machines all day long, they needed someone to run the haul truck. Here it is being filled with muck from the existing small pond by the excavator.

After being filled, fern is driven over a rise and the muck is dumped in the adjacent field.

Don't get behind Fern when she has to go.

It took about three days to haul all this.
